Artwork & Design

While we are always happy to work from your own artwork, and in conjunction with your own graphic design team we do offer a full in-house design service.

Our in-house design teams offers extensive experience in the design of interpretation panels, leaflets and park signs.  We have a large team of freelance specialists and can put together experienced teams to meet even the most demanding brief.  Outlined below is an introduction to the services we offer :

Design from your component parts.  Often clients approach us having written the text and sourced all the images, photographs, illustrations and logos.  They need an experienced eye to create the graphic design from these parts.  Our in-house team are experts – you will see as many proofs as necessary all within a fixed price quote.  There are no hidden extras in our design quotes – we provide a fixed price in advance.

Mapping.  Often an important part of an effective interpretive panel Shelley offer a full design and mapping service with styles ranging from simple flat maps to a complex bird’s eye view perspective of a reserve or town.  Clients often arrange their own OS licences but we organise this on request.

Illustrations.  We have a large library of natural history water colour illustrations available for a nominal charge.  High quality photographs with a natural history theme can be sourced from several suppliers while we can supply water colour and line illustrations with a historical or archaeological theme.  Please request examples of the illustrative styles available.

Script Writing.  Clients often wish to write their own text for an interpretive panel but we offer two main services to support this.  A journalist friend of ours offers a fantastic service in redrafting your text into a presentable and professional script – it is astonishing what improvements a fresh eye and writing skills can bring.  We can also undertake research exercises on behalf of clients – this can be web or library based and can include interviewing interested parties.  A real benefit for clients short of time and of great value for some locally sensitive projects where some ‘distance’ is beneficial.

Community Consultation.  We work in conjunction with Red Kite Environmental for projects including local consultation.  There is a real skill and need for sensitivity for consultation to offer real value to the project.  Costs and time depend on the number of groups involved – please contact Rob Shelley for further information.
