Our Cedar signs are beautiful to look at, especially the sandblasted timber Cedar signs where the grain effect is enhanced to give a most attractive finish.  We pride ourselves on the ability to design and manufacture Cedar signs that blend with both rural and urban environments although the most common applications are for country parks, nature reserves and other open spaces.  A further benefit of our timber and cedar signs is the ability with sandblasted graphics to produce timber signs, in cedar, that are tactile and meet DDA or Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
Cedar is mostly Cedar of Lebanon which is hard wearing and robust.  The timber  is sustainably sourced from the Stokesay Estate is Shropshire – it has travelled no more than 25 miles when it reaches our factory.  We are always looking out for new supplies of Cedar for our timber signs – recently we acquired a large butt of Cedar from the Friends of Marbury Country Park in Cheshire.  Please let us know if you have supplies  of air-dried Cedar that might be suitable for our signs and sandblasted interpretive tactile interpretation panels.
As well as using Cedar for tactile and routed signs we have used Cedar for producing timber lectern and vertical signs to mount our encapsulated GRP interpretive signs.
Cedar of Lebanon is a beautiful material to work with and results in very attractive signs.  We try to use the minimum amount of stains and paint which allows the natural beauty of the timber to show through.  In our view a Cedar sign or panel covered in paint in a wasted opportunity.  Our usual policy is to paint the text of a cedar sign and to paint the details of any maps but leave illustrations unpainted, as silhouettes.  The background to our cedar or wooden and timber signs is finished with a natural stain but never painted.
In summary of cedar timber signs are beautiful to look at, designed with care and sympathy for their intended surroundings and offer the ability to produce tactile graphics – ideal for meeting DDA requirements.
