Shelley Signs design and supply a wide range of lectern frames, post and bespoke structures in timber and steel for outdoor, external interpretive signs and interpretation panels.

Framing and support structures are a key consideration in any project.  The notes below give an outline of our most popular styles of frames with pictures in the banner section above.  We also regularly produce bespoke or special design frames – please call if you ned something individual.

Timber Lectern Frames

Produced in either oak from FSC suppliers, or pressure-treated softwood, wooden lectern frames are suitable for external grade interpretive signs and panels.  A few notes for your information:

  • Timber is oiled or stained by agreement according to your preferences.
  • A0, A1 and A2 landscape-orientated signs are usually supplied with twin legs.  A2 portrait and smaller are normally supplied with a single leg.
  • Wooden lectern frames are supplied with wooden picture frames to hold the printed signs securely.
  • Timber lectern frames will weather down over time and normally develop a silvery sheen. 

Timber Vertical Frames

Produced in either oak from FSC suppliers or pressure treated softwood, wooden vertical sign structures are suitable for external grade interpretive signs and panels.  A few notes for your information:

  • Timber is oiled or stained by agreement
  • A0, A1 and A2 landscape-orientated signs are usually supplied with twin legs.  A2 portrait and smaller are normally supplied with a single leg.
  • Wooden vertical frames are supplied with wooden picture frames to hold the printed signs securely.
  • Timber vertical frames will weather down over time and normally develop a silvery sheen.

Steel Lectern Frames

Our standard steel lectern frame structure: (a) is mild steel, galvanised or zinc-etched; (b) is powder-coated to an agreed colour for the legs; and (c) has an aluminium picture frame.  These produce a robust and attractive lectern structure with excellent colour fastness for the powder-coated finish.

  • In addition to the mild steel option, brushed- or powder-coated stainless steel is also available
  • A0, A1 and A2 landscape-orientated signs are usually supplied with twin legs.  A2 portrait and smaller are normally supplied with a single leg.

Recycled Plastic

Lectern frames, vertical frames for external interpretation panels, and park signs can all be produced in recycled plastic.  We normally carry a black recycled plastic in stock as this creates an attractive finish.

Wall-Mounted Signs

Depending on the size and required style, wall-mounted signs can be supplied as flat signs, drilled.  To create a more elaborate finish, signs can be supplied complete with either an aluminium or timber frame.  The aluminium finish will be powder-coated to your agreed finish.  The timber finish is supplied in either oak or softwood, and stained or oiled to suit your preferences.
