Leven Town Centre Interpretation
A recent project with Fife Council was a useful reminder of the wider objectives often associated with interpretation projects. The project involved 5 different signs at a size of 1,000 x 600mm – signs were produced in GRP with aluminium frames, posts and acorn finials. The theme was of Welcome to Leven Town Centre and to provide the story of the town’s heritage.
The boards were installed in November 2015 and were part of an improvement programme in the town. The Welcome signs can be found at Durie Street and the car parks at East Promenade, South Street & Shorehead. A visual guide to the conservation area is given on the panel at Links Road.
A local trader from Motorfits, Eddie Young, commented that he was ‘delighted to see the work completed and that the interpretation panel gave a real uplift to a key civic space within the town centre’
The interpretation panels were a key part of supporting & promoting Leven Town Centre and were part of a wider programme of improvements to the quality and function of the town.
It was also great to hear from a local resident who commented that the interpretation panels were ‘very attractive and just the right size’ and how ‘smart they looked in the area, very nice with these railings and everything’ Always good to have feedback from both customers and local residents!
All the interpretation panels were manufactured by Shelley Signs using our encapsulated Glass Reinforced Plastic process. Printed in-house on a Mimaki printer the print quality is excellent while the GRP finishing process offers excellent durability, ease of cleaning and colour fastness. The signs were mounted in powder coated aluminium frames with acorn finials. Produced from artwork supplied but Shelley have a design team in-house and can help with all artwork requirements.
